The Vector 0616TC is an industrial CNC lathe built for batch and small-series production of parts that combine turning with precise axial drilling or milling. An 8-station hydraulically clamped turret enables a complete machining cycle in a single workpiece setup — no manual tool changes, no transferring parts to another machine.
How It Works and Key Advantages
The workpiece is clamped in a 12″ 3-jaw chuck. Long parts are supported by the tailstock with a Morse 4 center — this eliminates deflection and ensures accuracy along the full length. The spindle starts, and the turret, moving on linear guideways above the spindle centerline, brings the required tool into position.
A turning tool may start the cycle for OD work. The program then indexes the turret: a hydraulic cylinder unclamps it, a servo motor rotates it to the programmed angle, and hydraulics clamp it rigidly again — a threading tool enters the cut. Rigid tapping is performed without a tension-compression holder, relying on precise spindle positioning.
When a central bore is needed, the turret presents a large drill. The workpiece keeps rotating while the stationary drill feeds along the Z-axis into the center of the material, producing a blind or through hole. No tool in the turret has its own drive — the entire kinematics rely on spindle rotation, making the design robust and easy to maintain.

The machine uses a slant bed configuration with horizontal guideways — a layout that delivers three practical benefits:
- chips fall freely onto the belt-type conveyor, never accumulating on the guideways;
- turret tools remain open for visual inspection and quick changeover;
- cutting heat dissipates evenly, the bed stays thermally stable, and accuracy holds even under extended operation.
For manual tool approach during setup, two external electronic handwheels and a wireless MPG are mounted on the body — the operator doesn’t need to navigate the controller menus to jog a tool to the workpiece. The chip conveyor continuously evacuates swarf, the lubrication system runs automatically, coolant is integrated — the operator focuses on making parts, not on tending the machine.
